How Trade in My Car

It’s easier than you might think! Below, we’ll explain how to trade in your car if you own it outright:

1. We’ll agree to a car deal over the phone or email.
2. After we’ve settled on a sales price, our general manager or sales manager will call you to get more information on your car.
3. After that, we’ll schedule a transaction with you, so we can pick up the vehicle and provide payment.
4. On the scheduled day, one of our delivery specialists will visit you and pick up your car.
5. The specialist will provide paperwork for you to sign, including a bill of sale at the agreed price, a power of attorney form, and an odometer reading statement.
6. After you’ve signed the paperwork, handed over your car keys, and the signed title, our delivery specialist will give you a check.
7. You’ll then get a proof of sale from our specialist, and they’ll take the car away. You can cash your check the same day!

What If You’re Still Making Payments on the Car?

If you’re still making payments on your car, you can still trade it in. However, there are some differences in the steps you’ll take:

1. Since the car is still attached to a loan, the GM will obtain the loan details from the lender.
2. Then, we’ll determine the difference between the loan and the agreed-upon sales price.
3. Afterward, we’ll talk about how much you can expect to receive after the loan is repaid.
4. We’ll schedule a day and time for the transaction and vehicle pickup.
5. Then, our delivery specialist will come to your location to complete the transaction.
6. They’ll provide a bill of sale at the agreed price, a power of attorney form, and an odometer reading statement, and have you sign them.
7. You’ll give the delivery specialist your keys, and they’ll pick up your vehicle.
8. Once that’s done, we’ll pay off the remainder of the loan.
9. After the loan is paid in full, the bank will send the car title to us. This can take about 2–4 weeks.
10. When the title is in our hands, we’ll write you a check for the difference we calculated previously.
